James Robert FOSTER 7/15/1938 ~ 3/24/2012 Jim Foster was born to Donald and Marie Foster on July 15, 1938 in Hastings, Minnesota. The family then moved to Richland, Washington, where Jim grew up and graduated from Columbia High School in 1956. After attending Central Washington University, he moved to the Seattle area and married Margaret, his wife of 51 years. Together they raised a family of four sons and eventually settled into their home in Renton. Jim worked for 35 years as a truck driver and was active in the Teamster union as a retiree. Jim's love for his family and passion for the outdoors filled his entire adult life. Jim is survived by his wife Margaret; their four children Kevin, Michael, Brian, Travis, and their families; and his siblings Tom, Ronald, Edward, Kenny, Nancy and their families. Services will be held at St. Stephen the Martyr Parish in Renton on Friday March 30, 2012 at 11:00am. A prayer vigil is also being held at the same location on Thursday evening March 29, 2012 at 7:00pm. Jim was dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed. May he be held in the arms of our Lord and rest in eternal peace.


 

Passing of Gary Dixon, Sr. - Local 959

We regret to inform you that former Local 959 Construction Director Gary Dixon Sr. passed away.

There will be a service for Brother Dixon Wednesday, December 7, 2011 from 1 :00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Bear Creek Golf & Country Club located at 22640 Bear Creek Dr. N, Murrieta, California 92562.

Gary served his Local Union as the Construction Director during the building of the Pipeline. He helped negotiate most of the agreements that put thousands of Teamsters to work on the Slope and the Pipeline. He later became the Western Conference of Teamsters Construction Director for Jess Carr. He was recently named the labor relations director for North America for Parsons.

Passing of Ronald Munce

Dear Brothers and Sisters:
We regret to inform you that former Local 313 Secretary-Treasurer Ronald Munce passed away Sunday, November 13th in Puyallup, Washington.

Ron Munce served his country in the Army in Japan and Korea receiving the Bronze Star and CIB. In addition, Ron was a Teamster for 45 years. Ron was in the construction Industry but also served his Local as a Trustee, Business Agent and finally as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Local.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., and again on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Mountain View Funeral Home located at 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Tacoma, WA 98499. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Mountain View Funeral Home fallowed by a Celebration of Life service at 1 p.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church located at 8211 11th Street SW, Lakewood, WA.

Memorial contributions can be sent to Franciscan Hospice, 2901 Bridgeport Way W., University Place, WA 98466.

 

Larry Hathaway Service October 16, 2011
Former Local 741 Business Larry G. Hathaway passed away Friday, Brother Hathaway became a Teamster in 1968 and was a Business Representative of Teamsters Local Union No. 741 from 1976 to 1980. After, his service as a Business Representative, he returned to rank and file membership and retired in 2001.

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tukwila Teamster Building located at 14675 Interurban Ave. S, Tukwila, Washington.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in his honor to: Providence Hospice of Seattle Foundation, 425 Pontius Ave. N, #300, Seattle, WA 98109.

 

Pat Swanson Service October 6, 2011

Former Local 313 Secretary-Treasurer Patrick Swanson passed away Monday, September 26th at his recreation cabin near Dayton, Washington. Patrick Swanson became a Business Representative in 1991 and was the Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local Union No. 313 from 1992 to 1999. After leaving Teamsters Local 313, Pat went to work at Northwest Cascade, Inc. and retired from there last year.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at noon at the Puyallup Eagles located at 202 Fifth St NW, Puyallup, WA 98371.


 

Larry Hathaway and Pat Swanson

The Joint Council was notified that Larry Hathaway, former Business Representative of Teamsters Local Union No. 741 passed away this past weekend and Pat Swanson, former Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local Union No. 313 passed away yesterday. We will forward more information once we receive it.
